Sophie Watterston
I am a 22 year old artist living in Broome, Western Australia. Drawing some of my favourite things about growing up in this beautiful town.
Whether you’re wearing my designs, sticking them on your water bottle, or simply admiring them, I hope they bring you as much joy as I had creating them.
Your support means the world to me, and because of it I have been able to create art that celebrates the wonders of Broome and beyond. Thank you!
Lots of love, Sophie xx
EXHIBITED WORK
In 2025, Sophie’s portrait Pearler’s Gaze was exhibited at the Shinju Matsuri Art Awards in Broome, where it received the People’s Choice Award.

This pen and ink portrait of a pearl diver employs the stippling technique characteristic of Sophie’s work. The helmet glass reflects luggers on the bay, symbolising labour and legacy. The diver invites a connection to Broome’s deep history and identity.
